Services at Saint Francis, Holy Week and Easter, 2010

Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday, March 28
8:00 am: Holy Eucharist
9:00 & 11:15 am: Choral Eucharist and Liturgy of the Palms
The congregation bearing palms, the service begins with acolytes, choir, lay assistants, and clergy processing with palms to commemorate Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Suddenly, the tone of the liturgy changes and we meditate upon Jesus' passion and death. 

Monday in Holy Week, March 29
6:00 pm: Holy Eucharist, in the chapel 

Tuesday in Holy Week, March 30
6:00 pm: Holy Eucharist, in the chapel

Wednesday in Holy Week, March 31
10:00 am: Holy Eucharist, in the chapel
6:00 pm: Holy Eucharist, in the chapel

Maundy Thursday, April 1
6:30 pm: Maundy Thursday Supper, Saint Francis Hall
7:30 pm: Maundy Thursday Liturgy: Holy Eucharist and the Stripping of the Altar
As night falls, our Lenten observance comes to an end, and we gather as the Church does throughout the world to mark the 'Triduum', the Sacred Three Days.

Good Friday, April 2
Noon to 3 pm: The Three-Hour Service
The tolling of the bell 33 times. Hymns, music, prayers, and meditations on the theme, "What did the death of Jesus accomplish?" Come when you can; leave when you must.

Holy Saturday, April 3
9:15 am: Holy Saturday Office
A simple service of the Word. 

Easter Eve, April 4
4:00 pm: The Service of Holy Baptism (no Eucharist) 

Easter Day, April 5
7:30 am: Traditional Eucharist with Hymns 
(Note the time; it is not the normal 8:00 am.)
9:00 am, 11:15 am: Festival Choral Eucharist with brass and timpani.
Festival liturgies begin the Great Fifty Days of Easter.
