House Tour Artisans

Community Artisans Pool Talents
To Benefit Potomac House Tour

Each year the Potomac Country House Tour is conducted in conjunction with a specialty Boutique held at St. Francis Episcopal Church. This year features a wide variety of offerings with a focus on the environment, recycled materials, and Artisan specialties. Among the new vendors is the Arbor House Gift shop from the US National Arboretum, appearing for the first time outside of the Arboretum location.

Eighteen parishioners exhibit their talents in the newly formed artisan co-op with hand-crafted specialties, recycled and one-of-a-kind-art. Unique jewelry made from beads from around the world, wedding jewelry, and paper jewelry; fanciful purses; original photography; handmade paper books; wearable art; plus, environmentally responsible “green” items artfully created. Parishioners participating are: Liz Harrison, Roxanne Stosur, Kim and Sharon Coppi, Gussie Moravec, Charolette Semmes, Beth Hunter, John Troha, Carol Jarvis, Charolette Yerkovich, Angela Beckman, Jean Marlow, Dottie Vogelsinger, Ann Venzon, Carol Hanson, Margo Warren, Michaela Hancock, Toni Stempien.

Antique and New Quilts Take Center Stage
in House Display

A total of 16 quilts will be displayed in the Glen Road home (Dana & Guy Semmes, homeowners). Blue quilts are the most desired by collectors, and this display will include three. The finest example of quilting will be displayed over the fireplace with traditional red and celery green colors stitched with appliquéd leaves and flowers. Seven other quilts (1850’s – 1940’s) owned by Carol Jarvis, House Tour Chair, created between 60 and 150 years ago by Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry. In addition, a four-by-four foot crazy quilt, circa 1932, and an Alice in Wonderland story quilt complement the collection.

Potomac Country House Tour (PCHT) is a ministry of St. Francis Episcopal Church, Potomac, MD. The proceeds from the PCHT have been central to the outreach efforts of the church since 1955 benefiting charities worldwide. The tour features Potomac homes and gardens in a two-day event. The proceeds are used to benefit charitable organizations that assist the elderly, needy, hungry, ill, and homeless; or that aid women, children and the disabled.
